Itinerary

  • DAY01

Arrival in Leh | Acclimatization Day | Shanti Stupa & Leh Palace

The flight into Leh is one of the better approaches in Indian aviation. The plane crosses the Greater Himalayan range low enough that peaks like Stok Kangri and the Nun-Kun Massif are visible out the window. As you descend, Leh town appears below monasteries, stupas, and the Leh Palace stacked up the hillside.

On arrival, our Ladakh DMC Expeditions representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Welcome tea and coffee, then the rest of the day is yours to do very little. That is the plan. Leh sits at 11,500 ft and your body needs time to adjust. Rest fully no rushing, no stairs you don't need to climb, no long walks.

Late afternoon, if you feel fine, a short drive to Shanti Stupa is worth it. The white dome sits on a ridge above town and the view over Leh at dusk is one of the better first impressions the city offers. Don't push it if your head is already complaining.

Altitude note: Drink water constantly on day one. Avoid alcohol and cigarettes for at least 48 hours. Mild headache is normal. Breathlessness on stairs is normal. If symptoms worsen, tell us immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How can I avoid altitude sickness in Ladakh?

The itinerary is designed for gradual acclimatization. On Day 1, rest is essential after your flight to Leh. Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol and smoking for the first 2 days, and move slowly during sightseeing. Oxygen cylinders are available in all vehicles. Optional short walks, such as visiting Shanti Stupa on Day 1, should be taken only if your health permits.

  • What is the best time to visit Ladakh?

The best time is June to September when roads to high passes, Nubra Valley, Pangong Tso, and Tso Moriri are open. July and August offer the most reliable weather for sightseeing and outdoor activities.

  • Are permits included in the package?

Yes, all Inner Line Permits for Nubra Valley, Pangong Tso, Turtuk, and restricted areas en route are included. Travelers must carry original ID proof (Aadhar card, passport, or driving license). Your guide assists in completing formalities during the trip.

  • What type of accommodation is provided?

We provide comfortable hotels in Leh (Days 1, 2, 8), Nubra Valley (Days 3, 4), and Hanle (Day 6). Camps with basic amenities are arranged at Hunder, Pangong Lake (Day 5), and Tso Moriri (Day 7). All accommodations include breakfast and dinner, with camps offering scenic views for a memorable experience.

  • What meals are included during the tour?

  • What should I pack for this trip?

Pack warm layers even in summer: fleece jackets, down jackets, woolen caps, gloves, and scarves. Bring comfortable trekking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, lip balm, and personal medications. Carry ID and cash since ATMs are limited, particularly in Nubra, Turtuk, Hanle, and Tso Moriri.

Some drives are long and at high altitude, especially Leh to Nubra Valley (Day 3), Pangong Lake to Hanle (Day 6), and Hanle to Tso Moriri (Day 7). Roads are scenic but remote, so carry snacks, water, and warm clothing. Travel slowly and allow for acclimatization and photo stops.
