The flight to Leh is unlike any other domestic route in India. As you cross the Greater Himalayas, peaks like Stok Kangri and the Nun-Kun massif fill the window. The descent into the Indus Valley is abrupt one moment it's nothing but ridgelines, then suddenly there's Leh town below, the old palace stacked up on the hillside.
On arrival, a Ladakh DMC Expeditions representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. Have your welcome tea, then do nothing. Seriously. The whole day is a rest day for acclimatization at 11,500 ft your body needs time to adjust, and fighting it early will ruin the rest of the trip. If you feel fine by late afternoon, a short drive up to Shanti Stupa for sunset is worth it.
Altitude note: Mild headache and fatigue on day one are normal. Drink water constantly, skip the alcohol, and don't exert yourself. If symptoms worsen, tell the guide immediately.
